Join The Chamber's Safety, Health & Wellness Committee on Thursday, October 3rd from 7:30am - 12:00pm for the "2024 Safety, Health & Wellness Symposium" at Orion Energy Systems. We have some great speakers who will be discussing important topics listed below for anyone looking for resources and solutions to take away from this event.

Speakers: Lt. Andrew Beck and Investigator Alex Nebel - Manitowoc County Sheriff's Department - Metro Drug Unit
Will provide an introduction of the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Department - Metro Drug Unit and their mission, drug trends in the Manitowoc County area, provide an overview of behaviors and indicators of drug use, to include paraphernalia used, what to do if drug use is suspected and employer-related drug topics and how law enforcement would handle those situations.

Jennifer Gleichner, BSN, RN - Public Health Nurse - Public Health Department Manitowoc County
Brinn Holschbach and Emily Longmeyer-Wolf - NEWAHEC
Northeastern Wisconsin Area Health Education Center (NEWAHEC) and the Public Health Department of Manitowoc County are partnering to address the opioid crisis in our community. The session will provide crucial information and life-saving skills:
- Local data on fatal/non-fatal overdoses
- Strategies to reduce addiction stigma
- Full training and certification in Naloxone administration
- A Naloxone kit (2 doses) and educational materials
- Information on accessing ongoing Naloxone replenishment for your organization
Will also introduce our countywide project to integrate overdose kits with existing AED machines in local businesses, schools, and government establishments. This initiative aims to increase the accessibility of this life-saving medication, placing it alongside other critical emergency response tools.
By attending, you'll gain the knowledge and tools to potentially save lives, contributing to our community's fight against the opioid crisis. Join us in creating a safer, more informed Manitowoc County.

Five upcoming OSHA rule changes you should know including: OSHA recordkeeping requirements, Lockout-Tagout changes, silica exposure considerations, heat exposure regulations, and updated HazCom classifications and shipping requirements.
Speaker: Kelly Bubolz, OSHA Regional Safety and Health Manager for U.S. Department of Labor-OSHA
Kelly Bubolz is a safety professional with over 25 years experience in health, safety, and environmental management. She is knowledgeable in OSHA, EPA, DOT, and DOT-BLS certifications. Public Policy Certified through FEMA as well as OSHA 30 Hour HAZWOPER.
