Active Shooter and Workplace Violence...
Description
The Chamber Safety, Health & Wellness Council would like to invite you to their upcoming breakfast presentation, Active Shooter and Workplace Violence presented by Jason Wilterdink, Lakeshore Technical College.
Overview:
Jonesboro, Arkansas; Columbine, Colorado; and Newtown, Connecticut are tragic reminders that violence can happen anywhere. This hour will be packed with information about workplace violence, with a major emphasis on the active shooter and what participants can do to prepare. Many topics from the list below will be included:
· Recognizing a problem before it is too late
· Having a plan for adults, children, and organizations
· How to talk to adults, employers, peers, and children about these tragedies
· Sample policies to enact at your organization
· The need to prepare yourself mentally
· Planning an escape route at your organization
· Proper practice for an active shooter, the modern “fire drill”
· Physical steps which can be taken to “harden” your environment from these tragedies
· Immediate actions for adults to take when confronted by an active shooter situation
· What to teach your children about the immediate actions to take when confronted by and active shooter situation
· What to expect when law enforcement responds to an active shooter situation
· Medical self help if tragedy strikes
· If tragedy strikes, how to minimize the emotional and mental trauma
