YP Week- Lunch N Learn "Generations.....
Description
Bronze Sponsor: Holy Family Memorial
The Young Professionals of Manitowoc County and Silver Lake College of the Holy Family invite you to a professional development opportunity on leadership titled, “Generations … They’re just Labels.”
Attendees will learn about the participation rate in the workforce through age bands, and how to connect to the concept of generations and the conditions that shape them. Then, attendees will explore within their own life experiences which of the “PESTEL,” or environmental, influences are more dominant, zeroing in on how their communication processes have been influenced and what this means for cross-generational communication. Dr. Begotka and Mr. Goff represent two different generations themselves, the baby-boomer and millennial generations. The interactive event will consist of a presentation, discussion and collaborative activities.
Lunch will be offered for a cost of $9. It will include your choice of sub sandwich with chips, salad, cookie, and soda or water. Lunch is optional; guests are welcome to attend free of charge without the purchase of lunch.
Dr. Jim Begotka currently serves as program director of the Masters of Science in Leadership and Organizational Development program and assistant professor of Business at Silver Lake College of the Holy Family. He focused his graduate and doctoral studies in organizational leadership. His primary career experiences have been as an administrator and faculty member within higher education for more than 25 years, in addition to being a small business owner and consultant. He is an educator, presenter, trainer and author/contributor in the following areas: leadership, team development, talent development, strategic planning, organizational learning and corporate strategy.
Matt Goff, director of strategic partnerships at Silver Lake College of the Holy Family, has been facilitating personal and professional development workshops and trainings throughout his entire career. His areas of expertise are found in leadership, career development, team building and workplace learning. Goff earned a master’s degree in Student Personnel in Higher Education from the University of Florida, and a bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. He is passionate about helping others. As a typical millennial, Goff “works to live instead of living to work,” and as such, he is an avid woodworker and ultra-marathon trail runner!
