Job Description
General Summary:
The Help Desk Technician provides computer support for Lakeside Foods personnel requiring service from the Information Technology Department.  Is responsible for providing technical assistance and support related to computer systems, hardware, or software. Responds to queries, runs diagnostic programs, isolates problem, and determines and implements solution.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Answer incoming help desk calls in a user friendly and helpful manner.
  • Record calls and document the nature of the call, initiator, and severity.
  • Provide timely notification and assignment of service calls to the appropriate IS staff.
  • Monitor the call notification process, and escalate calls when necessary, following established guidelines.
  • Resolve issues following Lakeside Foods IS policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Assist in creating help desk performance reports.
  • Keep managers, help desk peers, and IS staff informed of problems and progress taken to resolve problems.
  • Maintain understanding of software and hardware used at Lakeside.
  • Regularly maintain physical inventory of computer equipment and software.
  • Maintain the loaner laptop program, which includes set up of the laptop PCs and resolving problems related to the laptops.
  • Occasionally travel to other Lakeside offices to provide computer related support.
  • Setup new PC’s and performs software upgrades to PC’s.
  • Train users on Windows Operating System’s and Web Browsers.
  • Responsible for day to day operational support of business systems including on call rotation.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.  Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
Education and/or Experience:
Associate’s degree in a computer related field. 
Basic networking skills and basic knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office is required.
