2-1-1 Day on February 11 Celebrates Human Services Number

Manitowoc, Wisconsin (February 6, 2019) Next week, on Monday, February 11, 2019 (2/11/19) United Way Manitowoc County will join in the nationwide celebration of 2-1-1 Day, in recognition of the free, user-friendly phone number that connects over 14 million people to critical resources, information and services each year. This 2-1-1 Day, United Way Manitowoc County wants everyone in our community to know that these three numbers, 2-1-1, can change a life. Whether you’re calling to get or give help, immediate help is just a call away.

United Way Manitowoc County’s 2-1-1 helpline is a simple, free, confidential helpline that connects callers of all ages to local health and human services – 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Anyone in the community can dial 2-1-1 to speak with one of our trained specialists to receive immediate assistance and resource referals. Our community can also visit 211now.org to find an online database of resources. People call 2-1-1 seeking assistance with everything from rent and utitily payments, food bank location and job search options to addiction and recovery programs, affordable housing options and support groups. Additionally, it’s a resource for health care providers, school counselors, teachers, family members, neighbors and others trying to assist people in reaching the support and services they need.

If you are interested in getting involved by spreading awareness about 2-1-1 to the employees at your business or company, please visit unitedwaymanitowoccounty.org/2-1-1-helpline to place an order for free marketing materials. We offer posters, literature rack cards and wallet cards that can be hung in common areas and handed out to employees. Posters and wallet cards are offered in both English and Spanish, and the literature rack cards are available in English, Spanish and Hmong.

Please call the United Way Manitowoc County office at (920) 682- 8888 or email info@unitedwaymanitowoccounty.org if you have any questions regarding the 2-1-1 helpline.
