At the Manitowoc County Historical Society in November: Dine Fundraiser, Supper Clubs and preparing for winter

 
Here's what is happening at the Manitowoc County Historical Society, 924 Pinecrest Road in Manitowoc, in November: 
  • Dine Fundraiser at Noodles (Manitowoc): Thursday, November 14 from 4 to 8 pm; 4530 Calumet Drive Ste 101 Manitowoc; Dine with us at Noodles and Company on Thursday, November 14, 2024 from 4 pm to 8 pm to support the Manitowoc County Historical Society. Present the flyer on the MCHS website and social channels (either paper copy or on your smartphone) to the cashier when checking out and 25% from your order will be donated to MCHS. If you prefer to order online, enter the code, “GIVING25” in the Coupon Code line at the checkout. Funds help to support educational programs. 
  • Hungry for History: The Wisconsin Supper Clubs Story: Thursday, November 14 at 5 pm; Branch Station: 8112 Village Drive, Whitelaw; Ron Faiola has been called “Wisconsin’s legacy filmmaker” and a “supper club guru.”  His best selling book series, Wisconsin Supper Clubs: An Old Fashioned Experience (2013), and Wisconsin Supper Clubs: Another Round (2016), helped ignite supper club fever in the Badger State.  He was awarded a gold medal from the Midwest Independent Publishers Association for his third book, The Wisconsin Supper Clubs Story: An Illustrated History, With Relish (2021). His recently released fourth book, Wisconsin Supper Clubs Second Edition, is an expanded and updated version of his first book. A meal will follow the program, which takes place at Branch Station. Advanced registration required by November 10. The cost is $35. MCHS Members receive a 15% discount.
  • Museum Store Sunday: Sunday, December 1 from 10 am to 3 pm; Shop our museum store for your holiday needs. Take a site stroll for only $5. MCHS Members to the Historical Society's Museum Store will save 10% on everything in the store. This includes Pinecrest Historical Village blacksmithing crafts as well as books, toys, candy, Wisconsin items and local artwork. Gift wrapping will be available.
  • Create Connect: Holiday Blacksmithing: Sunday, December 1 from Noon to 3 pm; Students will have the opportunity to make a candy cane in the blacksmith shop. It is helpful if you have taken another one of our blacksmithing courses before.  Small class size guarantees lots of one-on-one instruction and lots of time at the forge! Fee: $65 per person, MCHS members get 15% off. Advanced registration required. 
  • Be sure to mark your calendars for our December program favorite: Pinecrest Christmas takes place on Friday, December 13 and Saturday, December 14!

About the Manitowoc County Historical Society
Nestled in the scenic rolling Ice Age Kettle Moraine countryside of Eastern Wisconsin, the Manitowoc County Historical Society is a museum of living history. This 60-acre interpretive museum of local history features a Welcome Center with local history exhibits and research services and the outdoor Pinecrest Historical Village - a collection of over 25 historic buildings with period furnishings from Manitowoc County's early settlers. 
 
Pinecrest Historical Village began in 1970 with a land donation from the Hugo and Eleanor Vetting family.  The Village has grown to represent a reproduction of a small Wisconsin community during the early 1900s. The buildings form the commercial, social, and political core of a town and they represent several architectural styles of Wisconsin's history. The furnishings, items, and tools in the various buildings used by the Pinecrest Village interpreters are either original pieces or carefully researched reproductions.
