Blood Drive Slated to Honor Doctors
MANITOWOC, WI — On Wednesday, April 5, from Noon to 4:00 p.m. Shady Lane, Inc. will hold a blood drive in honor of Doctor’s Day. According to the Red Cross, this could save up to eighty-eight lives in the community. "We are so grateful to the care that the physi-cians of this community provide for the residents of Shady Lane, Lau-rel Grove and Rehab at Shady Lane," observed Theresa Patrick, the Community Relations Director, "and this is one way we can say thank you."
A non-profit senior living facility, Shady Lane Inc. is led by commu-nity leaders sensitive to Manitowoc values. In 2016, ground was bro-ken for a new Laurel Grove building with eighteen assisted living units and eighteen secure memory care units. Established in 1951, Shady Lane is Manitowoc’s only non-profit, citizen directed care cen-ter. Laurel Gove Assisted Living also offers short-term stay options. As part of the continuum of care, Shady Lane has two other units. Re-hab at Shady Lane is a separate unit designed for short-term rehabili-tation with appropriate therapies. Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, which provides skilled care, offers only private rooms and some suites.
