Breakfast at Laurel Grove
MANITOWOC, WI – Laurel Grove Assisted Living will host a Breakfast Open House on Tuesday morning, March 21, from 7:30 to 10:00 a.m. at 1235 South 24th Street. Discover the advantages of assisted living and enjoy breakfast and a gift bag. Tours will be available. "We currently have a variety of affordable accommodations including single bedrooms, standard studios, one-bedroom suites, and one-bedroom apartments," noted Theresa Patrick, Director of Com-munity Relations. Information on the new Laurel Grove building, which will be ready for occupancy this summer, will be available.
The decision to build and to make significant changes to the campus is credited to the citizen-directed board. They are a group that is very sensitive to the needs of the people in Manitowoc County and that philosophy shapes their deci-sions. In 2015, Laurel Grove added a separate, secure Memory Care Unit. Resi-dents are provided with additional activities that encourage memory preserva-tion and meet the unique needs of residents. "Families have been requesting a secure place for their loved ones who are experiencing the challenges of mem-ory loss," said Patrick, adding, "we have a saying here, that ‘it is the love we never forget’ and that has driven the development of programs that are respect-ful of our residents — even when they don’t remember, we do"
Established in 1951, Shady Lane is Manitowoc’s only not-for-profit, citizen-directed care center. In addition to Laurel Grove Assisted Living, Shady Lane has two other units. Rehab at Shady Lane is a separate unit designed exclusively for short-term rehabilitation with appropriate therapies. Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, which provides skilled care, offers only private rooms and suites at com-petitive prices.
