First-Generation College Students to Share Their Experiences at Lakeshore College
CLEVELAND, WI – First-generation college students, those whose parents did not graduate from college, are invited to learn from other first-generation students at Lakeshore College’s “First Generation Event” set for Thursday, Nov. 7 at the college’s Cleveland campus.
A lunch buffet will be available 11 a.m. to noon. From noon to 1 p.m., a panel of current first-generation students will share their experiences and answer questions about navigating college.
Topics of discussion will include finding time and money for college, addressing concerns among family and friends, and overcoming doubts about succeeding.
“I deserve a higher education, I deserve a stable future. We all deserve to succeed,” says panelist Toni Neuser. Neuser completed Lakeshore’s Introduction to Welding certificate in May and is furthering her education in the Welding-Industrial program.
Joining Neuser will be nursing students Amber Madden and Ciara Szydel, and associate of arts student Riyan Lehman.
In addition to the panelists, Lakeshore representatives will be available to answer questions about exploring careers, academic and personal resources, and financial aid.
Registration is requested though not required at gotoltc.edu/first-gen-event.
