87 Local Crisis Agencies to Benefit from Hygiene & Cleaning Product Donations
Appleton, Green Bay, Wausau/Stevens Point, Sheboygan, Eau Claire WI91.9/91.5/91.3/88.5/99.9FM The Family:  The Family Radio Networks’ 29th annual ‘Help for the Homeless’ hygiene drive, Feb. 14March 7, is collecting personal hygiene and cleaning products for 87 Wisconsin crisis agencies in 18 East, Northeast, and Central Wisconsin communities.

People are encouraged to donate these supplies at work, church or school or at public collection sites, Festival Foods and Walgreens. Financial donations may be made securely online at TheFamily.net. Annually, more than 900 area businesses, churches, and schools participate by hosting collection boxes. Donations of supplies and financial support will be used in the community where they come from.
“After losing her job due to COVID, she’d been sick for a month and was still suffering acute sinus pain and hearing loss. Her eyes lit up when she saw the laundry detergent, saying ‘Thank you! I haven’t been able afford laundry soap, so we’ve been using dish soap to clean our clothes.’ She also was thrilled to get deodorant for herself and her teen daughter because they’d been scraping the inside of their tube to make it last. In spite of her poor health, she’ll start a new job this week, ‘Because it's what I have to do.’ - The Salvation Army
“Seeing the look of gratitude on parent’s faces when I hand them laundry detergent and toilet paper, and the eyes of a child light up as they get their very own new toothbrush; these are beautiful reminders of how our community steps up to help these most vulnerable families with generosity and kindness.” School Social Worker
A young man came to us who’d been living at the bus station. Obviously, he hadn’t showered, had a chance to brush his teeth or even shave. And the dignity he got back – to actually be able to clean himself up - to shave, to brush his teeth…he got emotional. The impact is, when you feel better about yourself, you’re able to make better choices. It’s those little things that can change the entire trajectory of a life.” Men’s Shelter

The Family Radio Network partners with area homeless coalitions and crisis programs by inviting the community to donate needed hygiene items for their local agencies through “Help for the Homeless.” Supplying the crisis programs with laundry soap, hair and dental care items, deodorant, diapers, and other personal care and cleaning products makes it possible for them to dedicate their limited financial resources to providing qualified personnel, education, counseling, safe housing, and nutritious food to those they serve. Note: Food Share (formerly Food Stamps)

can only be used to buy food nothing else. Not soap, diapers or toothpaste. To request a collection box, contact Heidi Prahl at 800-236-9364 or info@thefamily.net.
The goal of the drive is to supply a year’s worth of products to each agency. $3.7 million dollars’ worth of hygiene items have been donated through the event to date. More at TheFamily.net or call 800-236-9364.
Donate Supplies at: Festival Foods and Walgreens (as well as work, church, or school) or make a financial donation securely on-line at TheFamily.net February 14 - March 7.
