Historical Society and Brillion Public Library partner in ''Passport to Fun'' Program

The Manitowoc County Historical Society has begun a partnership with the Brillion Public Library in their "Passport to Fun" program.

"The Brillion Public Library is ecstatic to be partnering with the Manitowoc County Historical Society to expand our Passport to Fun Program! This program works to provide local families with access to educational and fun experiences, and we can't wait to start offering passes to the Manitowoc County Historical Society. The opportunity to connect our patrons with the resources this organization provides is sure to be popular! Kids will love spending the day exploring all the great history preserved with the historical society, and being able to offer these passes for free to library users can help break down barriers." said Lydia Dill, Brillion Public Library Director. The Brillion Public Library is located at 326 N. Main Street in Brillion. The library is a part of Manitowoc Calumet Library Service (MCLS), a shared consortium with five other libraries that gives Brillion Public Library users access to a collection of over 500,000 items.  The Library offers the public access to the Internet through patron computers, Chromebooks, and a wireless network.

"This partnership is a way for families to connect with local history in ways they may not have before. The Manitowoc County Historical Society is very happy to be able to give Brillion Public Library families the opportunities to create, explore and engage with our museum and village" said Devinne Fackelman, Engagement Manager of the Manitowoc County Historical Society.

The passport program is an extension of an access initiative that the Manitowoc County Historical Society began with the Manitowoc Public Library in 2018. In addition to the Library passes, the Manitowoc County Historical Society has various access programs that guests to the museum and village can take advantage of including Access Admission rates and an Access membership. In 2023, there were over 100 individuals who took part in the various access programs at the Historical Society.

The Manitowoc-Calumet Library System and the Manitowoc County Historical Society are also partnering together for an annual Library Card Fee Day at the museum and village on Saturday, May 11 from 10 am to 4 pm.  Guests to the Historical Society, located at 924 Pinecrest Road in Manitowoc, can show their MCLS library card to tour the museum at no cost. A variety of make-and-take activities will be available for youth inside the historic Shadyside School.

About the Manitowoc County Historical Society
Nestled in the scenic rolling Ice Age Kettle Moraine countryside of Eastern Wisconsin, the Manitowoc County Historical Society is a museum of living history. This 60-acre interpretive museum of local history features a Welcome Center with local history exhibits and research services and the outdoor Pinecrest Historical Village - a collection of over 25 historic buildings with period furnishings from Manitowoc County's early settlers.

Pinecrest Historical Village began in 1970 with a land donation from the Hugo and Eleanor Vetting family.  The Village has grown to represent a reproduction of a small Wisconsin community during the early 1900s. The buildings form the commercial, social, and political core of a town and they represent several architectural styles of Wisconsin's history. The furnishings, items, and tools in the various buildings used by the Pinecrest Village interpreters are either original pieces or carefully researched reproductions.
