Historical Society holds holiday blacksmithing workshop on Dec. 1

The Manitowoc County Historical Society, 924 Pinecrest Road in Manitowoc, will gear up for the holiday season beginning on Sunday, December 1 with open hours in the Museum Store and a special holiday blacksmithing workshop.
 
The Museum and grounds of Pinecrest Village will be open from 10 am to 3 pm on Sunday, December 1 for site strolls and shopping in the Museum Store, located inside the McAllister House Welcome Center.
 
The Museum Store at the Manitowoc County Historical Society is thrilled to participate in this signature annual Museum Store Sunday and join museum stores worldwide by offering quality gifts filled with inspiration and educational value. MCHS Members to the Historical Society's Museum Store will save 10% on everything in the store. This includes Pinecrest Historical Village blacksmithing crafts as well as books, toys, candy, Wisconsin items and local artwork.
 
Site strolls can also take place throughout the grounds. Pinecrest's historic structures will be closed but guests can walk the grounds for a cost of only $5 per person.
 
Also on December 1 is a Holiday Blacksmith workshop, part of the Create-Connect Series. The workshop will take place from Noon to 3 pm and is available with advanced registration. Students will have the opportunity to make a candy cane in the blacksmith shop. It is helpful if you have taken another one of our blacksmithing courses before.  Small class size guarantees lots of one-on-one instruction and lots of time at the forge! The workshop is geared towards ages 16 and up. The cost is $65 per person, MCHS members get 15% off. Advanced registration required. Check in at the McAllister House Welcome Center 15 minutes before your workshop start time.

About the Manitowoc County Historical Society
Nestled in the scenic rolling Ice Age Kettle Moraine countryside of Eastern Wisconsin, the Manitowoc County Historical Society is a museum of living history. This 60-acre interpretive museum of local history features a Welcome Center with local history exhibits and research services and the outdoor Pinecrest Historical Village - a collection of over 25 historic buildings with period furnishings from Manitowoc County's early settlers. 
 
Pinecrest Historical Village began in 1970 with a land donation from the Hugo and Eleanor Vetting family.  The Village has grown to represent a reproduction of a small Wisconsin community during the early 1900s. The buildings form the commercial, social, and political core of a town and they represent several architectural styles of Wisconsin's history. The furnishings, items, and tools in the various buildings used by the Pinecrest Village interpreters are either original pieces or carefully researched reproductions.
