Manitowoc Public Library Youth Services June 2025 Programs
Manitowoc, WI, May 20, 2025—Manitowoc Public Library’s June 2025 Children’s Programs are scheduled with the following events and dates:
Family Activity Nights (FANs) Tuesday Evenings
Join us the evening of Tuesday, June 3, at Manitowoc Public Library for something different and fun for the whole family! Older siblings are always welcome! Children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. No registration is required! Please check our Facebook page and event calendar for updates!
- Fishing For Flavor—June 3, 6:30-7:15 PM Can you tell cheddar from parmesan? Pizza from pretzel? Use your senses of sight, smell, and taste to identify different flavors of Goldfish crackers. This program is intended for children ages 5-11. Please Note—Due to the nature of the activity, we are unable to accommodate food allergies or sensitivities.
Baby Storytime Wednesdays & Thursdays, 9:30 AM
Baby Storytime is 20 minutes of stories, songs, rhymes, bounces, parachute activities, and bubbles, followed by 20 minutes of playtime! Baby Storytime is recommended for developmental ages 0-2 and siblings are always welcome. All Library storytimes are inclusive and welcoming. You are encouraged to attend the storytime that best meets your family's developmental needs. Registration is not required.
Preschool Storytime Wednesdays & Thursdays, 10:30 AM
Join us in singing, talking, reading, creating, and playing at this inclusive Storytime for families with preschoolers. Storytime focuses on concepts such as life skills, counting, colors, emotions, patterns, and the alphabet. It's a great opportunity to meet new friends, socialize, and strengthen early literacy skills. Storytime is recommended for developmental ages 2-5 and siblings are always welcome. All library storytimes are inclusive and welcoming. You are encouraged to attend the storytime that best meets your family's developmental needs. Children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Registration is not required.
Drop-In Chess Club @ MPL Wednesday, June 4, 6-7:30 PM
Want to improve your memory and concentration or practice logical thinking skills? Make a smart move and join us for Drop-In Chess Club at Manitowoc Public Library’s Second Floor Balkansky Community Room from 6-7:30 PM on Wednesday, June 4! The game of chess offers many brainy benefits—and it's just fun! Those of all abilities and ages (6-years plus, please) are welcome, but staff will not offer formal instruction. Chessboards are provided and library materials are available for further learning. No registration is required, but please remember that children under the age of 8 (even prodigies!) must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.
Summer Reading Sign-Up at Cedar Crest Ice Cream Thursday, June 12, 12-2 PM
Sign up for Manitowoc Public Library's Summer Reading Program at Cedar Crest! Join Miss Betty for a Storytime at 1 PM. Be one of the first to sign up and get a coupon for a free scoop of ice cream! Yum! In case of inclement weather, this event will be canceled. Children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.
Taste of Tae Kwon Do Saturday, June 14, 12-1 PM
Grab the kids and join us on the Library Lawn at Manitowoc Public Library for a fun Saturday afternoon at our Taste of Tae Kwon Do event! This beginner-friendly class is led by Mark Weber, the founder of Lakeshore Tae Kwon Do, who has 45 years of experience. Mark loves helping people in Manitowoc learn about martial arts. If you want to try Tae Kwon Do for self-defense, fitness, or just for fun with your family, this is a great chance to explore! We look forward to seeing you there! Participants must be elementary age (6-years old) or older and children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Registration is required for Taste of Tae Kwon Do. Summer Reading Program 2025 Monday, June 16 through Saturday, August 9
Join the Summer Reading Program and earn weekly prizes just by reading! Pre-register on the Beanstack App beginning on Monday, June 2, or pick up a paper tracker at the launch of the Summer Reading Program, Monday, June 16!- FREE and for All Ages!
- Read or be read to a total of 30 days to complete the program (any time spent reading, counts as a day of reading).
- Every six days read earns you a prize!
- Participants have until Saturday, August 16, to pick up your prizes, while supplies last.

Pigeon-Palooza! Tuesday, June 17, 6 PM, and Wednesday, June 18, 10:30 AM & 2 PM
Author Mo Willems' fictional fowl Pigeon is coming to town! Should we let the Pigeon drive the bus? Will he stay up late? Join us on the Library Lawn (or the Balkansky Room if the weather is bad) for rollicking storytime fun (all three sessions) and the chance snap a selfie with our fine-feathered friend (only at the Tuesday, June 17m session). All Ages Welcome!

Friends of Manitowoc Public Library Used Book Sale Thursday, June 26-Saturday, June 28
IT’S BACK!!! Join MPL for the Friends of Manitowoc Public Library’s HUGE Used Book Sale in the 2nd Floor’s Balkansky Community Room. Hours of Operation are as follows:
- Thursday, June 26 12-7:30 PM
- Friday, June 27 9 AM-5:30 PM
- Saturday, June 28 9 AM-2:30 PM (Stuff-a-Bag—$4—All Day Saturday!)
Cash or local check only! NO debit/credit cards accepted! ATM located on the 1st Floor near the Main Entrance.
Chemical Chaos! Friday, June 27, 1-2 PM
Join UW-Green Bay Chemistry Professor, Dr. Amy Kabrhel, on the Library Lawn for an outdoor extravaganza of chemistry. Experience the real-life fireworks of thermite! Witness the fizzy geysers of Diet Coke and Mentos, as well as many more dynamic demonstrations! This program is open to elementary school-age kids and teens. No registration is required. Children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.
