Manitowoc, WI, February 17, 2021—Manitowoc Public Library’s December 2020 Children’s Programs are a combination Grab & Go Kits and Virtual Events. All Virtual Programming can be accessed online at unless otherwise indicated.
Winter Read-a-Thon, Through March 6 (ongoing)
Beat the winter blahs with books! ALL AGES are invited to join our Winter-Read-a-Thon! Kids, Teens, and Adults can read or be read to a total of 10 hours over our 5 week program to earn a fabulous prize and celebrate reading! Register online at or download the Beanstack Tracker App! Prefer Paper? Call 920-686-3010 to pick up a paper reading tracker via Curbside Pickup! New this year: BONUS BADGES! Earn our bonus badges by diversifying your reading choices. Each optional badge you complete will get you a raffle ticket to enter into our Cozy Bundle giveaway!
Family Activity Bags & Books (FAB)                                                 Grab & Go Kits (ongoing)
Looking for a fabulous activity to do as a whole family? The Library has you covered! Each month, we’ll be offering a variety of Family Activity Bags (FAB) & Books—we supply the materials for you to have fun at home! And now, each FAB comes with a book, hand-picked for you by your Friendly Neighborhood Librarians! Check back for the new lineup of FAB fun every month! FABs are available on a first come, first served basis and supplies are limited! Register online via or by phone at 920-686-3010. If calling, you must speak to a live staff member to reserve your kit.

  • GLAZE & PAINT SPRING CANVAS KIT: REGISTRATION OPENS MARCH 4 @ 5:00 PM Pick up your materials ahead of time and join Katie from Glaze & Paint on March 9 @ 6:30 PM on our Facebook page/YouTube channel for a virtual tutorial to create your own spring canvas!

    Each kit comes with sugar cookie mix, sprinkles, cookie cutters, and a simple icing recipe!

    Love animals? This kit is for you! Grab a kit and tune in on Monday, March 29 @ 1:00 PM on our Facebook page ( or on our YouTube channel to learn all about your favorite green critters and make a fun craft with artist Mary Tooley!

    In The Bad Chair—all Chair wants to do is play a game of hide-and-seek. This craft gives The Bad Chair an opportunity to do exactly that! Follow the simple instructions to make your very own The Bad Chair: Hide & Seek Game Craft. Hide the chairs around your home and see if a friend or family member can find them all!!

Virtual Preschool Storytime                                                             Wednesdays at 9:30 AM
Join us in singing, talking, reading, creating, and playing at this inclusive Storytime for families with preschoolers. Storytime focuses on concepts such as life skills, counting, colors, emotions, patterns, and the alphabet. Storytime is recommended for developmental ages 2-5, but siblings outside that age range are always welcome! All Storytimes are inclusive and welcoming. Registration is not required. Storytime will be held virtually on Wednesdays at 9:30 AM on Manitowoc Public Library’s Facebook page:

Library Night at Wisconsin Maritime Museum                                 Tuesday, March 30, 6:30 PM
Set sail for family adventure! Join us for a very special in-person Family Activity Night at Wisconsin Maritime Museum. Registration is required and begins on Monday, March 1, at 9:00 AM on the “Events” tab of MPL’s website ( Families who register ahead of time will be able to enjoy FREE, self-guided tours of the Maritime Museum’s main exhibits and USS Cobia. Masks will be required. Submarine tours will be first-come, first-served. Tickets can be picked up at the Museum’s front desk during the event. Groups of no more than ten will be allowed onto the submarine every ten minutes. Guides will be stationed throughout the boat to answer questions and keep everyone on schedule.
