Manitowoc, WI, June 1, 2018—The Manitowoc Public Library Teen Services February Programming is scheduled with the following events and dates:
D.A.P. (Digital Arts Program): Orientation
June 12, 1:00-2:30pm, Franklin Street Room
This program is only open to registered participants! Teens can register online at http://www.manitowoclibrary.org/dap/.
Our popular Digital Arts Program will be back this summer! DAP is a 10-week course designed to teach basic digital art skills like digital drawing, videography, sound and video editing, and more.
Teen Summer Kick-Off Party: Rhythm & Tunes with Taku Ronsman
June 12, 3:00-5:00pm, Balkansky Community Room
A multicultural music program led by Taku Ronsman. Participants will get to play a variety of rhythm instruments and learn songs and dances from around the world that will get you up and moving! Following the music program will be more games and snacks for teens as the kick-off continues!
Video Game Camp using Bloxels
June 18-June 28, Mondays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays, 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM, Balkansky Community Room
Learn how to build, capture, and design your own videogame using a Bloxels kit with our ipads. Bloxels are miniature building blocks used on a grid which is photographed by the designer and entered into software on our iPads to all allow continued creation of the world with all sorts of levels and goals for players to accomplish. The first week will focus on storyboarding, grid building and capturing images for the program. The second week will focus on adding additional items to the games such as multiple characters, levels, and obstacles, hopefully ending with at least 2 levels finished or a whole game, depending on participant skill levels. This week is only open to participants who registered for week one since this is a cumulative program. Registration will be required as the class well be capped at 20 participants.
Battle of the Books 2018
June 21 & 28, 4:00-5:00pm, Library Board Room
BoB is a system-wide trivia competition between library teams. Each library in the Manitowoc-Calumet system assembles teen teams to compete for a trivia trophy. Practices are every Thursday throughout the summer starting on June 21st. You can sign-up to be part of the team and ask for more information at the Summer Reading Program Registration Table on June 11th!
